The FPGEE is a comprehensive pharmacy exam, which focuses on knowledge from biomedical, pharmaceutical, behavioral, and clinical sciences. To be eligible for the FPGEE, you must first apply for FPGEC Certification and complete the necessary steps .  

Applicants who become eligible during the FPGEC Certification process can take the FPGEE. When you become eligible, you receive a notification through your NABP e-Profile.

The FPGEE is offered once per year at Pearson VUE test sites located throughout the continental United States.

Register for the Exam

You will only be able to register for the exam after your FPGEC application has been evaluated and accepted. You will be notified through e-Profile of your acceptance to test. After registering for the FPGEE and receiving an Authorization to Test (ATT), you will be mailed a FPGEE Identification Card (FIC) to the address in your e-Profile. The FIC is required on the day of your exam.  If you do not present your identification card at the testing site, you will not be admitted to take the exam and will forfeit your fees.

  1. Complete the FPGEE registration process in your  NABP e-Profile . Before you register for the exam, be sure your contact information is up-to-date in NABP e-Profile.
  2. If applicable, request  ADA accommodations .
  3. You will receive an ATT via email from Pearson VUE after you have registered and paid the exam fee. The ATT includes instructions on how to schedule your testing appointment.  You cannot schedule your exam unless you have received an ATT.
  4. Schedule your FPGEE appointment at a Pearson VUE test site within the continental US. Any changes to your test appointment must be made through  Pearson VUE .

Deadlines

The FPGEE will be held as scheduled on October 18, 2022. You must have registered for the exam by September 1, 2022 to have received an Authorization to Test (ATT).  

The following are important dates for the October 18, 2022 FPGEE:

Candidates who were accepted and unable to sit for the October 6, 2021 exam due to COVID-19 travel restrictions received an application extension and will be able to sit for the October 2022 FPGEE. 

If you qualified for the extension, the information is posted in the Foreign Pharmacy section in your NABP e-Profile . 

Prepare for the Exam

The total seat time for the FPGEE is 5.5 hours; the examination is 4.5 hours. The exam is comprised of 200 questions that are delivered in a computerized, fixed form. The scaled passing score is 75. As part of preparation for the exam, we recommend you do the following before exam day:

Practice Exam

The Pre-FPGEE ® is the official practice exam with questions like those from the FPGEE. The practice exam can be taken up to two times annually. It can be purchased for $75 and is available online. At the end of the practice exam, you will receive an estimated scaled score based on your answers via your email account to print for your records.

There are 66 questions on the Pre-FPGEE, and you will have 85 minutes to complete the practice exam. You should allow an additional 15-20 minutes to complete the registration process and exit survey. Once you register and pay for the Pre-FPGEE, you will have 7 days to take the test.   There are no refunds for practice exams.

Browser and Operating System Requirements
You will need to have a computer with reliable internet access (wired, high-speed connection preferred) to take the Pre-FPGEE. You will also need to have access to a printer for score reports. More information can be found in the Help Section .

Take the Exam

Read the test day policies and procedures found in the Candidate Application Bulletin to avoid being turned away from the test center. You will also need to do the following:

  1. Bring your FIC and a current primary form of identification to the Pearson VUE test site on the day of the exam. Your valid primary ID should show the approved photo ID that was accepted in your FPGEC evaluation. The printed name on your primary and secondary forms of ID must match the name that appears on your FIC. If you do not have the correct IDs with you on the day of the exam, you will not be able to test. Acceptable forms of ID are listed in the Application Bulletin .
  2. Arrive 30 minutes early to the Pearson VUE test site. This will give you enough time to complete the check-in procedures, which include the below steps. If you arrive at the test center 30 minutes after the scheduled examination time, you will forfeit your appointment.
    • You will have your photograph taken and will be required to provide a digital signature.
    • If you are taking the test for the first time, you will need to provide a palm vein scan.
    • If you are a repeat test-taker, you will need to provide a digital fingerprint and a palm vein scan.

Receive Results

Your FPGEE score will be available in the Foreign Pharmacy section of your NABP e-Profile approximately 8 weeks after you take the FPGEE exam.

A passing score of 75 or higher is needed to complete the FPGEC Certification application.

If you do not receive a passing FPGEE score and your 2-year eligibility period has not expired, you may re-test by re-registering for the exam and paying the FPGEE re-take fee. If your 2-year eligibility period has expired, you must complete a new FPGEC Certification application. Then, your previously submitted documentation will be reviewed before you receive eligibility to retake the FPGEE exam. FPGEC candidates are allowed a maximum of 5 attempts to pass the FPGEE. Missed Appointments

If you need to cancel your scheduled FPGEE appointment, you must cancel at least 5 business days before the scheduled date. Your Authorization to Test (ATT) remains active if you cancel with Pearson VUE and your eligibility period is valid for the next exam. To also receive a refund of the exam fee, you must cancel with Pearson VUE at least 5 days prior to the scheduled exam and cancel with NABP via your e-Profile .

Pre-FPGEE Content Protected Under IP Law

The Pre-FPGEE and its contents are the exclusive property of NABP. The Pre-FPGEE is a confidential examination that is protected by law, including trade secret, copyright, and other applicable laws and regulations.

Individuals are expressly prohibited, at all times, from selling, offering, disclosing, making available, transmitting, copying, reproducing, purchasing, receiving, or acquiring without prior written NABP authorization, the Pre-FPGEE including, without limitation, examination questions, answers, question format, profiles, and scenarios.

If NABP obtains information indicating that an individual is engaged in the prohibited conduct described in this section, NABP, at its sole discretion, may take one or more actions against the individual including, without limitation, disqualification from the FPGEE program, provision of information about the individual’s alleged misconduct to one or more boards of pharmacy or regulatory or law enforcement authorities, or pursuit of administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings or penalties.

If NABP obtains information indicating an examination candidate disclosed, published, reproduced, transmitted, received without authorization, or made available any portion of the Pre-FPGEE, as described above, in any form to or from individuals, organizations, study groups, or the like, NABP may take actions against the candidate resulting in but not limited to disqualification from the FPGEE program, civil penalties, and/or criminal proceedings.
