The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy ® (NABP ® ) has rebranded its patient-focused communication offerings to complement the Association’s informative safe.pharmacy website. NABP furthers its mission to protect the public health by providing patients with authoritative resources about medication safety, prescription drug abuse, medication disposal, and safely buying medications on the internet.
Since the start of 2022, NABP has been rolling out the new Safe Pharmacy branding and design across its offerings targeted for patients. Most recently, a new Instagram account was launched, increasing reach and providing NABP with a new way to connect with consumers through a variety of content and unique graphic elements.
Also updated were the Association’s patient-focused Twitter and Facebook accounts as well as the biweekly email newsletter. Formerly under the AWAR X E ® Prescription Drug Safety brand, these accounts have been updated under the Safe Pharmacy brand, are redesigned to reflect NABP branding, and are defined by a more consistent patient and consumer education focus. Followers can expect to see a variety of content, including:
- recent blog articles,
- safety resources,
- public service announcements,
- consumer initiatives from the boards of pharmacy,
- how to buy, use, and dispose of medication safely, and
- news and resources from health care industry experts and partners.
The safe.pharmacy website continues to be the reference hub for NABP’s newly branded Safe Pharmacy social media and email newsletters. A vital resource for both consumers and health care providers who interact with patients, the website offers a safe sites search tool for patients to search for licensed, verified pharmacies when purchasing medication online. The site also provides a drug disposal locator tool, so patients can easily find locations to dispose of unneeded medication.
Patients and health care providers are encouraged to explore all of the Safe Pharmacy resources on the consumer website, including social media and email sign-up , as well as read the educational content about the current issues that could affect their families and friends.
